Michael Hunstad, Ph.D., is the Chief Investment Officer and Head of Global Investments at Northern Trust Asset Management. With deep expertise in quantitative investing, factor-based strategies, and portfolio construction, he oversees the firm’s global equity, fixed income, and multi-asset solutions. Hunstad joined Northern Trust in 2012 and previously led quantitative research. Before Northern Trust, he held senior roles in asset management and served as a finance professor. He holds a Ph.D. in mathematics, an M.A. in economics, and an MBA, and is widely published in academic and industry journals.
