Stephen A. Keen is a retired Senior Counsel in the Investment Management group at Perkins Coie LLP’s Denver office. Admitted to the Colorado bar in 1984 after earning his J.D. from the University of Chicago, he previously served 14 years at Federated Investors, including as General Counsel (1999–2004). A nationally recognized expert on U.S. money‑market fund regulation and derivatives use by registered investment companies, his practice now also covers commercial applications of distributed‑ledger technology. He contributes regularly to Investment Lawyer and participated in drafting UCC Article 12 and related amendments.
