Disappointing but necessary.

In light of what it says an abundance of caution with coronavirus developments “to protect the health and well-being of its attendees and associates,” fiduciary education and fintech firm Fi360 and parent-company Broadridge have decided to cancel the Fi360 Conference in Austin, Texas, that was scheduled for May 17-19.

“Our primary concern is the health and well-being of our attendees and associates,” John Faustino, Head of Fi360, said when asked about the decision. “Based on the information we have today, we felt it was prudent to cancel the conference, previously scheduled for May 17-19 in Austin, TX.  We considered rescheduling for later in 2020, but the needs of our attendees and sponsors drove our decision making.”

Registered attendees are looking for high-quality and timely educational sessions, he added, and “Our sponsors are incredible supporters of our advisor attendees, and first and foremost, want us to help us address advisor needs.”

Because many other conferences have already been postponed to the fall, sponsors have expressed appreciation that Fi360 didn’t push theirs, “and further crowd that time frame.”

Faustino said the firm is hoping to deliver many, if not all, of the sessions and presentations that were originally planned for the conference via webinar from April through June.

“With a go-live date of June 30, presentations on Reg BI are timely; we can’t wait to deliver them,” Faustino explained. “Many advisors coming up on Fi360 designation renewals use our conference to gain their continuing education credit. We hope to deliver [and] we’ve discussed this goal with most of our scheduled speakers and sponsors. We’re working out details and will share scope and timing shortly.”
