Get Ready for ‘National Retirement Security Week’

Mark the retirement date.
Mark the retirement date.

Seems like we just got through with National 401(k) Day, and we’re already on to National Retirement Security Week.

The latter, from the National Association of Government Defined Contribution Administrators, features “Your Whole Story,” a combination of tools, presentations and video to be distributed online and through social media channels.

“The campaign is designed to inspire people to look at their own lives and make a commitment to taking care of the financial aspects of it,” said NADGCA’s Polly Scott. “The campaign pieces are simple, but strategically build a person’s confidence in saving and investing for retirement.”

The overall goal of the campaign is “to reduce participants’ stress and anxiety about retirement decisions and engage them with information that can improve financial decision-making.”

The new campaign materials will be used by NAGDCA’s membership of governmental defined contribution plans and industry partners to promote National Retirement Security Week from October 16-22.

The materials include a savings journey map and twelve field notes which are best practices for individual retirement savers. Campaign materials are housed on a microsite for plan sponsors and participants to view, select and download.

NAGDCA’s mission is to be a “premier provider of education, information, and training, to support plan sponsors and service providers of government-sponsored defined contribution retirement plans in creating successful retirement security outcomes for their plan participants.”

The Lexington, Kentucky-based organization’s objectives include:

  • Developing and sharing research, data, communication materials, fiduciary standards, governance policies, and best practice information with plan sponsors and service providers;
  • Partnering and building relationships with theretirement plan community; and
  • Effectively representing the interests of government defined contribution plans and participants in federal legislative and regulatory matters.
