The SECURE Act (Setting Every Community Up for Retirement Enhancement Act) is a U.S. law passed in 2019 to improve retirement savings access and security. It expanded eligibility for workplace retirement plans, increased the age for required minimum distributions (RMDs), allowed long-term part-time workers to join 401(k) plans, and encouraged small businesses to offer retirement benefits with tax incentives. The law also made changes to inherited retirement accounts, generally requiring beneficiaries to withdraw funds within 10 years.
