What is a Pooled Employer Plan (PEP)?

A pooled employer plan (PEP) is a type of 401k plan in which a number of smaller companies can participate. The plan is managed by a pooled plan provider (PPP).

The economies of scale afforded the smaller companies in administrative and compliance tasks that the PEP offers makes it cost-effective for them to participate. Also, see MEPs.
