The National Association of Plan Advisors (NAPA) is heading to San Diego this weekend for the NAPA 401(k) Summit—and 401(k) Specialist will be tagging along.

The annual event is expected to see record-breaking attendance of 1,200 financial advisors and 2,500 attendees overall this year and will feature trending conversations impacting the retirement industry today, including President Joe Biden’s recent veto on environmental, social, and governance factors (ESG), retirement planning in a new age of uncertainty, SECURE 3.0 (!) and more.

The conference commences with American Retirement Association CEO Brian Graff’s annual “From the Summit to the Hill” keynote presentation, where Graff is anticipated to relay all the latest trends and developments affecting the advisory space from the nation’s capital.

The day then moves through a handful of workshops ranging from topics like financial wellness, third-party administration (TPA), managed accounts, and more, before transitioning to the first night’s big event: The Summit After Dark: NAPA County Fair. The country fair-themed affair is the first-ever at NAPA and will include drinks, classic carnival foods, games, and NAPA’s house band, The Royal Machines.

Monday opens with an array of sponsored breakfast workshops, before leading to the general workshop sessions of the day. Here, behavioral economist (and one of 401(k) Specialist’s latest cover stars) Shlomo Benartzi will talk about SECURE 3.0 and what it could include. Workshops dedicated to managed accounts, diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) strategies, on-boarding, and litigation lessons will also occur at this time.

Afternoon sessions include a live podcast with ARA’s Nevin Adams and Fred Reish of Faegre Drinker Biddle & Reath, protected retirement income solutions with Barbara Delaney and Bonnie Treichel, and workshops on small-market opportunities, pension de-risking strategies, and more.

Monday night features an after-party at NOVA SD, a new entertainment space in downtown San Diego, before concluding on Tuesday with a host of sponsored and general sessions in the morning.

We’re looking forward to NAPA’s 401(k) Summit, and hope to see you there!
