Some big names and bright minds in the workplace retirement plan industry will come together in Overland Park, Kan., on April 15 to explore the next chapter of fiduciary excellence at the 17th Annual Qualified Plan Fiduciary Summit.

Among the headliners at the event will be former Assistant Secretary for Employee Benefits Security at the U.S. Department of Labor and founding member of LMG Collaborative Consulting Solutions Lisa M. Gomez, joined on a keynote panel by noted ERISA attorney Fred Reish and Will Hansen, Executive Director of Plan Sponsor Council of America.

“Having three individuals that represent the legal, regulatory and plan sponsor community all on one panel will be epic,” said Prime Capital Retirement President Jania Stout, one of the hosts of the event.

With almost three decades of experience in employee benefits law, Gomez has been at the forefront of retirement security, the SECURE Act, and mental health parity in the workplace, making her one of the most influential voices in the industry. During the panel on legislation and fiduciary hot topics, Gomez will share her unparalleled insights into the latest challenges and opportunities in retirement plans, employee benefits, and risk management. The panel will offer expert perspectives, practical guidance, and a forward-looking view on what’s coming next and what plan sponsors need to do to stay ahead.

Another highlight will be a unique session featuring Prime Capital Financial Chairman and Managing Partner Scott Colangelo as moderator of a panel featuring Strategic Retirement Partners leaders Jeffrey Cullen and Deane Mayerhofer; LeafHouse President and CEO Todd Kading; and SageView SVP Jeff Gratton.

“For the first time ever, we have invited some of our best competitors in the industry to do a panel in front of our clients. Putting your competitors in front of your clients is not normal!” Colangelo said. “I’ve often said RIAs need to communicate better, collaborate more and learn from each other. We all do certain things better than our competitors and this group embraced this concept and will be sharing things they see coming and will share those thoughts with our very best clients.”

Colangelo said the opportunity to formally introduce Stout to clients from around the country in person is another big component of the annual event. Stout, one of the industry’s most high-profile advisors, was named president of Prime Capital Retirement and Prime Capital Wellness last November.

“It’s no secret that I simply believe Jania to be the best advisor I’ve ever competed with, and thank god, now get to partner with every day,” Colangelo said.

Yet another highlight—“the cherry on top,” Colangelo said, will be having Jonathan Thomas, CEO of American Century Investments, talking about how client success positively impacts its controlling owner, the Stowers Institute for Medical Research, a world-class biomedical research organization dedicated to defeating life-threatening diseases.

Colangelo said Thomas will “share with us the amazing things their company is doing to make not just clients’ lives better, but the health of the world better. His session simply A DO NOT MISS!”

One of the opening keynote sessions on Tuesday will feature Sarah Simoneaux, president of Simoneaux Consulting Services, taking attendees behind the scenes of retirement service providers to understand how they go about solving problems, communicating during crises, and partnering with plan sponsors in meaningful, consultive ways.

Additional sessions will cover an emerging trend of how benefits professionals have an opportunity to proactively address fiduciary responsibilities within health and welfare plans; how to build a financial wellness strategy that gives employees what they want and need; rethinking retirement plans for tomorrow’s workforce; and how AI is transforming retirement today.
