Jacob Eigner is General Counsel and Head of Regulatory Affairs at Basic Capital, a technology-driven retirement platform focused on modernizing the American 401(k) system. With a background spanning financial services, ERISA law, and retirement policy, Eigner brings a unique combination of legal expertise and commercial insight to the evolving retirement industry. Prior to joining Basic Capital, he served as Vice President in the Legal Department at Goldman Sachs, where he advised on regulatory and financial services matters. Earlier in his career, he practiced at Groom Law Group, one of the nation’s leading ERISA law firms, counseling clients on retirement plans, fiduciary compliance, and investment oversight.

Before entering the legal profession, Eigner built a successful career in investment management, working directly with retirement plan sponsors and institutional clients. He is also a recognized thought leader in retirement policy and financial regulation, with commentary and articles featured in publications including Bloomberg Law, Fast Company, BenefitsPRO, and 401(k) Specialist Magazine. Eigner earned his J.D. from Georgetown University Law Center and his B.A. in Economics from the University of Alabama.
