Margaret Berger is a Partner in Mercer’s Law & Policy Group, where she plays a pivotal role in advising clients on complex pension and retirement policy issues. Based in Mercer’s Princeton, New Jersey office, she specializes in actuarial consulting for private employer pension plans, bringing deep expertise in regulatory compliance, plan design, and legislative developments.

An actuary by training, Berger holds credentials as a Fellow of the Society of Actuaries (FSA), a Member of the American Academy of Actuaries (MAAA), and an Enrolled Actuary (EA). She is actively involved in shaping actuarial standards and policy, serving on the Actuarial Standards Board Pension Committee and the American Academy of Actuaries Pension Committee.

Berger is a frequent contributor to Mercer’s thought leadership on retirement policy. She has co-authored numerous articles on topics such as cost-of-living adjustments, retirement plan limits, and legislative reforms like the SECURE 2.0 Act.
