CFP Board has rescheduled its July exam window to Sept. 22-27.

Industry organizations continue to pivot in response to the coronavirus pandemic and economic crisis, with some recent developments announced by the Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards, Inc. (CFP Board).

While industry conferences and events get canceled or go virtual as a timeline for the resumption of business travel remains up in the air, adjustments continue to roll out in an effort to provide the tools and resources advisors need to effectively run their practices. Here’s the latest from CFP Board.

CFP exam moved to September

The board announced this week that it has postponed the July 2020 CFP Certification Exam administration to September 22-29, 2020.

“The health and safety of our exam candidates has been paramount to us as we’ve monitored the COVID-19 pandemic and considered its impact on the CFP exam,” said Kevin R. Keller, CAE, CFP Board’s Chief Executive Officer. “CFP Board did not make this decision lightly. We recognize the months of preparation many candidates put into preparing for the exam, and we appreciate their ongoing dedication and perseverance.”

Individuals currently registered for the July 2020 exam will be notified by email on or before May 31, 2020, with details on rescheduling their testing appointment to available dates in the new September 2020 testing window or November. The November 2020 CFP exam administration is scheduled for November 3-10, 2020.

Registration for the September 2020 CFP exam will be open to all eligible candidates. Discounted early-bird registration will be available through July 28, 2020, with a final registration deadline of September 8, 2020.

CFP Board noted that exam administrations will continue as planned only if they can be conducted without compromising the health of exam candidates.
