The Defined Contribution Institutional Investment Association (DCIIA) has announced three new Advisory Councils to its Retirement Research Center (RRC): The Plan Sponsor Advisory Council (PSAC), the Advisor Institute Council (AIC), and the Institutional Consultant Advisory Council (ICAC).

In addition to the newly added groups, DCIIA has appointed three chairs to lead the councils. Christina Elliot, the executive director of Ohio Deferred Compensation Plan, will chair PSAC, while Jim O’Shaughnessy, the president of retirement and private wealth at Hub International, will chair AIC, and Bill Ryan, a partner and head of defined contribution solutions at NEPC, will chair ICAC.

The new groups will join the existing Academic Advisory Council (AAC), which include David John of AARP Public Policy Institute, Michael Finke, Jack VanDerhei or Morningstar Investment Management, Jason Fichtner, Alliance for Lifetime Income & Retirement Income Institute, Gopi Shah Goda of the Stanford Institute for Economic Policy Research, and more.

“The Advisory Councils are a crucial component of our strategy around research and industry engagement,” said Lew Minsky, president and CEO, DCIIA, in a press release. “Their partnership will prove invaluable as we embed them into our ongoing research process focused on practical, actionable, and unbiased insights that are relevant to the entire retirement ecosystem.”

“Providing a holistic perspective on research implications for our industry is one of the RRC’s key differentiators,” added Rob Austin, Alight Solutions, chair of the DCIIA RRC Executive Committee. “The Councils have a critical role to play in ensuring that all industry stakeholders’ viewpoints, needs, and challenges are considered throughout the research lifecycle.”

Each council is made up of several companies, which include Abbott Labs, The Federal Retirement Thrift Investment Board, Marsh McLennan Agency, Mercer, amongst others.

Representatives from the Advisory Councils will be attending and speaking at the RRC Summit being held November 16th in New York City in conjunction with the DCIIA Academic Forum on November 15th.
