Denver-Based Strategies Capital Management Makes Major Acquisition
Denver-based retirement plan, investment and asset management service provider Strategies Capital Management announced on Friday that it’s acquired Advisory Consulting Group, a registered investment advisor with a focus on employer-sponsored retirement plans.
The transaction closed on July 1, 2017.
Based in Alameda, Calif., ACG “delivers a wide range of employer-sponsored retirement plan consulting services, including 401(K) plan design and compliance, vendor selection and management, plan governance and administration consulting, as well as 3(21) and 3(38) investment advisory services,” according to the company.
With over 30 years serving the retirement plan needs of its clients, ACG’s principals are recognized for their breadth of experience “to address a full range of anticipated and unanticipated retirement plan needs.”
“ACG’s commitment to providing high-quality services to plan sponsors, and its extensive experience in retirement plan consulting, further enhances our offerings for clients,” Tom Gonnella, president of Strategies Capital Management, said in a statement.
“Teaming up with SCM will enable us to grow geographically and expand the suite of services we provide our clients’” added ACG founder and principal Robert Stebbins. “The partnership gives us additional scale and reach to service a wider range of consulting and advisory needs.”
In February, Strategies, sub-advisor to the TD Ameritrade Strategic Target Funds, announced that it had made the funds available to qualified plan advisors.
The suite of six Target Date Funds and five Target Risk Funds provide plan participants with access to Collective Investment Funds (CIFs), a non-fund family specific investment structure that has grown in popularity.
“We are excited to give retirement plan advisors access to the Strategic Target Funds,” David Halseth, founder and Chief Investment Officer of Strategies Capital Management, said at the time. “Our approach translates into broader diversification, best-in-class asset management, low fees, all resulting in 2016 top decile performance with reduced risk.”
