Financial Planners are getting their own Hall of Fame.
“The pioneers who have shaped financial planning didn’t just build a profession. They redefined what it means to truly serve the public.”

CFP Board today announced the creation of the “Financial Planning Hall of Fame,” which it calls “a prestigious new recognition program honoring visionary leaders whose groundbreaking accomplishments have transformed the profession, elevated its standards and enhanced its impact on society.”
The nomination period for the new Hall’s inaugural class of honorees is open today through March 31, 2025.
In a press release today, CFP Board said the Hall of Fame is meant to serve as a living tribute to those who have reimagined the possibilities of financial planning, championed the profession’s highest ideals and inspired future generations of financial planning professionals.
“The pioneers who have shaped financial planning didn’t just build a profession. They redefined what it means to truly serve the public,” said CFP Board CEO Kevin R. Keller, CAE. “Through their vision and innovation, holistic financial planning has become a powerful driver of financial security and personal well-being for more Americans.”
Transforming the financial planning profession means driving meaningful change that has enhanced accessibility, ethics, education and awareness—for example, making investment advice more affordable and inclusive, championing the fiduciary standard to prioritize clients’ best interests, establishing educational institutions to train future professionals and leveraging technology to improve financial tools and services.
“Financial planning continues to evolve as a profession,” said CFP Board Chair Liz Miller, CFP, CFA. “By honoring innovators who have accelerated its growth, strengthened its profile and shaped its future, we seek to inspire the next generation and spark exciting new possibilities for the profession.”
Eligibility requirements
Inductees into the Hall of Fame will be selected based on their outstanding contributions to transformational achievements in the field. Anyone who has advanced the financial planning profession for the benefit of the public is eligible for nomination, including financial planners, influential journalists, authors, academics and policymakers who have driven meaningful change. Nominees do not need to be CFP professionals to be eligible.
Nominations should clearly describe the nominees’ transformational achievement(s); their personal role in the achievement(s) and the time period of activities; and specific examples of how the achievement(s) have/has enhanced the financial planning profession in action or reputation.
CFP Board has formed a 2025 Selection Committee that brings varied perspectives and a deep understanding of the financial planning profession’s growth over the past five decades. The Selection Committee includes former CFP Board Chairs and Board members, seasoned CFP professionals and academics.
Following the nomination process, the Committee will evaluate submissions and recommend candidates for induction to the Board of Directors of CFP Board, which has final authority on the inductees.
CFP Board will celebrate this year’s Hall of Fame inductee(s) at the 2025 CFP Board Connections Conference in Chicago, set for Oct. 6-8, 2025.
Submit a nomination here. Nominations open on Feb. 20, 2025, and the nomination deadline is March 31, 2025.
