Would you believe 95 percent of people actually have a bucket list?
That’s the case according to a new survey by Provision Living Senior Living Communities.
Two-thirds of the survey respondents plan on checking off a bucket list item within the next year, and they’re willing to spend an average of $3,081 to do so.
Unfortunately, their own financial situation is by far the biggest thing preventing people from checking off bucket list items.
It was mentioned by 57 percent of respondents, while a lack of time (14 percent) and family responsibilities (11 percent) finished a distant second and third.
People like to create bucket lists of experiences and achievements they hope to accomplish to help them live life to the fullest – and it can be a helpful reminder to encourage them to plan responsibly to give them a better chance at knocking those items off their list.
No surprise that travel is the most popular bucket list experience (77 percent), followed in order by financial and personal development goals (both included by 71 percent of respondents), and items related to family (67 percent), health (55 percent), hobbies (47 percent), careers (42 percent), and spiritual development (40 percent).
People have an average of eight travel destinations on their bucket list, with Australia being the most frequently mentioned country they want to visit and Honolulu being the most-mentioned city in the survey (see lists of top bucket list countries and cities below).
Top financial bucket list goals were to pay off debt, pay off their mortgage, retire early, save for a children’s college education, give to charity and buy a home.
The most desired bucket list experiences according to the survey? That would be skydiving, winning the lottery and having kids.
