Design a successful DC plan
A new four-hour online course focuses on how to create a successful DC plan

Are you an expert in designing a Defined Contribution plan tailored to the needs of a plan sponsor and plan participants that will lead to successful outcomes? If your skills could use some fine tuning, this might help.

A brand new course, “Designing a Successful Defined Contribution Plan,” has just been launched by San Diego-based online retirement and employee benefits plan management learning and certification hub Fiduciary Education.

Created in partnership with industry-expert instructor Stacy Schaus, the comprehensive 4-hour course covers all elements of successful DC plan design, including:

  • Governance
  • Behavioral Research
  • Investment Structures
  • Retirement Income

Fiduciary Education said in a release announcing the new course that it helps fiduciaries understand their responsibilities, learn about current retirement and investment design trends, and embrace how to design plans that best fit the specific needs of an organization and its people. Students will gain the tools, resources and knowledge necessary to tackle the unique challenges of DC plan design, Fiduciary Education says.

“DC plans represent over $7 trillion in the U.S.,” said Fiduciary Education Co-Founder Brent Willey. “The proper design of these plans is critical.”

Instructor Stacy Schaus is the founder and CEO of Schaus Group, an independent firm that offers objective consulting for defined contribution plan fiduciaries, plan sponsors and advisors. Her extensive experience includes pivotal roles in developing defined contribution services at PIMCO, Hewitt Associates and Merrill Lynch Capital Markets.

“My hope is that DC plan fiduciaries will learn new strategies to help more workers retire successfully,” said Schaus. “For example, designing a plan that leverages behavioral realities to help people both save and invest more effectively.”

Plan fiduciaries and committee members, HR/benefits professionals, CFOs and business owners, retirement plan advisors and anyone looking to establish or improve a defined contribution plan can benefit from this course.

Four hours of CE credits are approved for designations offered by the HR Certification Institute (HRCI), Society of Human Resources Management Professional Development Credits (SHRM-PDC), and three hours Certified Financial Planners (CFP).

Fiduciary Education’s mission is to improve plan management by empowering plan sponsors and financial professionals through premium courses and insider tools for 401k, 403b and Defined Benefit plans of any size. The online hub is designed to better equip fiduciaries and plan managers with the knowledge needed to create better retirement plan outcomes for both businesses and employees.
